Episode's summary
Back after a week away. Hope you all missed me :)To make up for being absent last week I've put together a phunk extravaganza. At least that's what I'm calling it. Not sure how you would describe this kind of house, it's meatier than disco, but it's not funk, and it sure ain't funky house. So phunk it is. You heard it here first. Most of the tracks here have featured in past mixes, but I have managed to drop a couple of new ones in there to keep you on your toes.Hard to pick out tunes in this mix because I love them all, that's why they're in here.Next weeks show is likely to feature a few new tracks again so be sure to tune in to hear the latest and greatest sounds of C2E.We'll do a little "who's listening in the most exotic location" competition, so if it's exotic where you are, jump in the chat room and let us know. It's Hong Kong next week for me, but I'll be back in time for the show. Anyone need me to get them any cheap electrical goods? ;)www.pressureradio.com/chatSydney - Melbourne 8pm to 10pm Tokyo -…

Episode 318: c2eMusic VBW 4 VBR
ListenedFor this weeks radio show I played my two VBW sets from 2018 and 2019 into one two hour show.I also finally got to fix a screw up from the 2019 set when I accidentally stopped the wrong deck on the first transition! I was mortified at the time and it took a few tracks to get out of my head and back into it.I also extended the end of the 2019 mix so the last track plays in full. Both mixes are very tight as I tried to cram as many tunes in each as possible. There are at least 35 tracks in this session as a result I reckon.Enjoy!
Episode 317: c2eMusic - Live at Lilly's Bar - August 2026
ListenedThis is the recording of a set I recently played at Lilly's Bar in Brookvale on the Northern Beaches in Sydney. The first 40 minutes are the excellent Lili Joy who the bar is named after. It's actually a gin distillery and bar. The dancefloor has a really high ceiling and the walls are covered in barrels of gin! It's a heavier mix, only the first three tracks are soulful, the rest are deeeeep. ✊🏾Enjoy 🤘🏾
Episode 316: c2eMusic 2011 Vintage
ListenedIt's always nice to turn back the clock and cherry pick some of the tracks that defined a particular year. Surprising to hear how much the sound and style either has or hasn't evolved. This time we go back five years to 2011. Since this was recorded in April we stick to the first half of 2011.Auditioning tracks for the mix was tough, so much deep soulful quality from the likes of Atjazz, Maya Jane Coles and the Reel People label.Hopefully some of the tracks take you back to the not so distant past and refresh happy memories locked away and triggered by a song. This is a recording of the c2eMusic show on Pressure Radio on 28th April 2016.This somehow dropped off the podcast.1 | Guti & Dubshape | Every Cow Has A Bird2 | Tigerskin | Feel For You3 | Manoo & Francois A ft Dyanna Fearon | Crying For Love4 | The Soulshapes | Keep On (Main Mix)5 | Mayan Jane Coles | Humming Bird6 | Yoshitaca | Just Lay Back7 | Warm Days ft Swindle & Natalie Maddix | Selfish Skies (Atjazz Mix)8 | MdCL | Everything I Need (Vocal Mix)9 |…
Episode 315: c2eMusic MAW Session 2026
ListenedA Masters At Work session. Sounds like such an obvious choice but i's 20 years since the last one!The previous two were both curated (to within an inch of their lives!) so the tunes were packed in with shorter transitions. This is a radio show session so tend to play the tracks in full, let them breath and be heard as intended. There are some tracks from the last two MAW Sessions but plenty of tunes that have come since, mainly from Louie.Plenty to sing along to, it's hard to go wrong with MAW, so much quality to chose from. What's your favourite MAW tune?Tracklisting:1: Voices - Voices In My Mind2: Loleatta Holloway - Can't Let You Go3: Louie Vega, Cassio Ware - Just The Way ( Louie Vega Jersey Mix)4: Lusito Quintero ft Blaze - Love Remains The Same (Louie Vega Mix)5: Viola - Little Girl6: Sara Devine - Take Me Home7: Nathan Adams - Falling (Louie Vega Mix)8: Ultra Nate - Twisted (Got Me Going Round) (Louie Vega Production Main Mix)9: MAW - Odysey10: Kenny Lattimore - Days Like This (MAW Mix)11: MAW - I…
Episode 314: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - NY to NJ
ListenedThis mix was inspired by the opening track. Ralphi Rosario posted it on FB which made me curious. I've always wanted it so when I saw it had recently been released digitally I grab copy.On the night of the show just before going live I realised I didn't know where the other digital versions of my old early 90's NY house/garage were. As a result I started the mix off with Bardot and figured I'd find them as the show went along. This proved massively time consuming as my collection is in Rekordbox so I had to look manually using windows explorer on my desktop. As a result I almost ran out of track a few times and had chuck a few loops in.It also meant I couldn't play the tracks in an order I prefer. It was a case of playing what I could find when I found it. I want to do this mix again but programmed properly. I think it will be a timeless classic like so many of the tracks on here.I'd also bought a few new tracks just before the show, so I switched with about 30 minutes left and played the new stuff. It…
Episode 313: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - Rare 2 Hear
ListenedAnother mix from the vinyl archives. No theme or idea where it might go, just an attempt to play records I've either never played before or it's been at least 20 years. These sessions are always fun as it allows me to reconnect with my vinyl collection and find tracks to play out at gigs. How many do you remember?Tracklisting:1: MAW ft India - I can't Get No Sleep '95 (No Sleep In '95 Mix)2:Kings Of Tomorrow - The Path3: KENLOU - Moonshine4: The Soul City Experience - The Only Way (Club Mix)5: Federal Hill - I Got Something For You (T.M.V.S. Vocal)6: M.K. - Burning (Vibes Mix)7: 3rd Exit - Da Chant (Vocal)8: Leena Conquest - Boundaries9: Angel Moraes - For Love & Peace (For the Bar Heads (Sunset Mix))10: Zoo Experience ft Brian Chambers - Got To Be Free11: Salt City Orchestra - The Storm12: Akabu ft Linda Clifford - Ride The Storm (Joey Negro Medusa Mix)13: Earth, Wind & Fire - Can't Hide Love (MAW Mix)14: Monkey Brothers - Some Of What You Got15: Cleptomaniacs - All I Do16: Knee Deep - MJB Track17: Definite…
Episode 312: c2eMusic Radio Show - Latin House Sessions
ListenedThis mix was a warm up for a gig the following weekend. The brief was Latin House, so Latin House it is. I fell in love with the sound in the mid 90's with tracks like The Blackout Allstars, but it really exploded in the early to mid 2000s. Those rolling beats and just all round feel good vibes get me every time. I find it impossible to sit still. It always brings the dancefloor to life, maybe because it's a big hit with the ladies and lets be honest when the girls are happy everyone's happy!Too many favourites to name names, not all of them are here but there are a fair few. This is a two hour mix, but the weekend gig is three hours. I only hit top gear in the last 35 minutes and would have loved a longer run, but that is reserved for the weekend.Tickets for the next boat party are now available at humanitix. https://events.humanitix.com/c2emusic-pres-full-houseMarch 6th - Friday night 8pm to midnight. Will be an unforgettable night on the harbour under the stars surrounded by the bright lights of the…
Episode 311: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - Vinyl Vaults
ListenedThis was a fun mix and radio show to do. I have an upcoming gig that wants Latin House but they don't have turntables so I've been ripping my vinyl. While going through everything I decided to pull out tracks I haven't heard in years, like 20+ years. The next sensible thing to do is play them on my show and here we are. During the show I ran a little name that tune quiz. There are some serious heads in the VBW community, both DJs and listeners. I was expecting them to get most of the tracks but to my surprise they only got a handful, declaring me the winner!!The music is mainly from around the early to mid 2000's. I wasn't sure how they would all play together but I'm really happy with how it turned out.How many did you already know? Have you discovered any new favourites after listening?Any other period you would like me to shine a spotlight on?The next boat party is locked in down here in Sydney. March 6th, Friday from 8-midnight. Yes a night party on the harbour. It's so cool dancing on the top deck of a…
Episode 310: c2eMusic Radio Show - January 2026
ListenedFirst show of the second year on VBR. Thanks to everyone that has tuned in or downloaded over the last 12 months. Weekly shows are intense and come round so quickly. This week's show is a new music show for January. It's a real mixed bag, I'd only bought 16 new tracks and half of those were real chunky house tracks. You need about 25 for a two hour show so I needed to pad the first hour out but had no idea what to go with. The mix starts with three new tracks on the soulful deep vibe. I then cracked the vinyl out and played two of my favourite Soulfuric tunes. We stayed old skool and vinyl for the next four tracks before coming back up to date with Jay Vegas remake of another old classic from the mid 90's. One of my favourite tunes from back then. Remakes are the order of the day and we pick another with a beefed up version of The Fog's "Been A Long Time".Once we get past Yolanda Be Cool it's all new, up to the last track. We first pay a visit to Old London town and those lumpy bumpy UKG beats. The rest of the…
Episode 309: c2eMusic Radio Show - Guest Mix - Emma - Jan 2026
ListenedHappy New Year and welcome to the first radio show of 2026.To kick off the new year I have a special guest who is fast becoming a regular. Emma joins us for the third time in the last 12 months. The last time we ended up with a marathon 4hr mix as we carried on after the show finished on air.Not to be outdone this time we went for even longer. This mix comes in at a whopping 4hr 50m! The radio show stared at 9pm and we finished playing at almost 2am.The last half of the mix we were crate digging back to our UK days.Apologies for the distorted microphone. No tracklisting at the moment, almost five hours worth is too much to be trying to identify, but keep checking back because you just never know. One rainy day I just might give it a try. Here's to a great 2026 for us all.
Episode 308: c2eMusic December 2025
Listenedmy desktop instead of my aging MacBook.I couldn't wait to play the new tracks I'd bought. Usually I download just before the show and then go on a wild ride mixing blind almost, live on air. This time I've had two weeks of listening to the tracks, getting to know them and ideas on how they might work together. It was like the old pre-radio days. The mix has a really smooth warm deep bouncy feel to it. You will be head bobbing for sure. For anyone in Sydney over Xmas, I hope you can join me on the 27th for my end of year boat party celebrating 25 years of house music. I've got a great line-up of DJs that really know their stuff. If the last event is anything to go by it will be another amazing fun afternoon on the harbour.Tickets below:events.humanitix.com/c2emusic-pres-…years-of-houseTracklisting:1. Episode 307: c2eMusic on VBR - Guest Mix - Maurizio Marchetti
ListenedThis weeks show had another guest, this time a fellow Vocal Booth Radio DJ based here in Sydney. Maurizio Marchetti plays in my old time slot on a Thursday once a month. He's a big vinyl nut collecting edits and mashups alongside choice cuts from the last 40+ years. His sets have a lot of energy often underpinned by a funky/disco vibe but you can't pigeon hole that easily as you'll hear in this mix. We went all over on this one.He grew up in London and so was exposed to the same house culture I was. We both share a love so for many of the same sounds, sub genres, labels, artists. He's a regular resident DJ for Boogie Wonderland, one of the most successful nights in Sydney and Maurizio has put down so many now legendary sets that get the crowd and especially the ladies very excited. I also played alongside him as part of another local collective Larry's Herd. We've done a few b2b gigs over the last couple of years. It's always fun to play alongside him because of the breadth and depth of his sound and…
Episode 306: c2eMusic on VBR - September 2025
ListenedThis mix is just an open digital crate digging session, no theme just great music. A real mix of two halves, the first being deep soulful house from both sides of the pond. Baltimore, NY and NJ feature heavily alongside London. The second half is a more upbeat club sound form more recent years dominated by European heavyweights.Tracklisting:1: thatmanmonkz -Blowin' My Mind2: Simba - Phase Seq One3: 6th Borough Project - Back 2 Black (Cuthead Remix)4: Coeo - The Look5: Mathew Bandy, Dianne Charlemagne - Pieces Of My Dream (The Layabouts Dub Instrumental)6: Kim English - Supernatural (Mousse T. Episode 305: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - Special Guest Terry A.
ListenedThis week I was joined by local DJ Terry A (Anastasiadis). Got into the scene in the mid 90's and carried on spinning tunes until the mid 00's. Terry is one of the DJs playing at my upcoming 90's Classics boat party on November 16th in the afternoon and the world famous Sydney Harbour. As you'll hear Terry brings that awesome US sound synonymous with that era.The clocks had changed over the prior weekend which meant the show started an hour later in order to maintain the same UK start. Unfortunately I forgot and so we started an hour early and had to play for three hours. Terry didn't bring enough vinyl for such a long set. It was almost all used up in his first 90 minute solo. So for the last half of the mix he was rummaging through my collection which let's just say could be a little better organised!!So many great tracks in this mix I guarantee you won't have heard for years. A real throwback session.Looking forward to hearing what Terry brings to the boat party. If your coming along you're in for a…
Episode 304: c2eMusic on VBR - 2 0 0 8 Vol2
ListenedThis is the second 2 0 0 8 mix now with the first one back in 2017 so eight years apart. I tried to make sure the two didn't have all the same track as that would have been a waste of time making. Only two tracks appear in both, but they're great tracks so I doubt anyone will complain. The first hour is a fairly soulful affair with the opening 25 minutes on the deeper side. The second hour is a mix of higher energy soulful stuff and straight up house. Some great tracks in the last half, it was hard deciding which way to go next with every track played because there were so many options and all of them BIG tunes.I am happy with the way it ended up and the journey taken. Hopefully some of your favourites made it in too. What's your favourite track from this year? What's your favourite track on this mix? Which 2 0 0 8 mix do you prefer?Tracklisting:1: Fabio Genito - Papawenda2: Benny Blanko - 8ft In The Air3: Ursula Rucker - Untitled Flow (Kenny Dope Remix)4: Domu - Drift Away5: Copyright ft Mr V and Miss Patty -…
Episode 303: c2eMusic on VBR - Uncle Martin's Singalong
ListenedThis is a test run for a requested mix from my mate Martin Evans in the UK. He's a MASSIVE soulful vocal nut. He's always telling me I need more vocals in my set, especially female. One day last August while chatting he started sending you-tube links to his favourite tunes and challenged me to make a mix with them. I agreed and then kept forgetting. A year later I finally bought the tracks, I only had a few of them. For last night's show I thought I'd give them a test run. I hadn't listened to them so didn't know how much energy they had to know where they would sound best in the mix. I nearly always have a rough idea even if I've only just bought something, but with these ones I was going in totally blind with the mindset that this would never see the light of day!During the show the chatroom was loving the tunes, they are classics in the soulful vocal scene. Martin was in the chatroom making full use of all the positive emojis.I recorded the show so I could listen and get a better feel for the flow, which I…
Episode 302: c2eMusic on VBR - September Sounds
ListenedThe next instalment in the monthly series. This time we comb through tracks acquired in the month of September all the way back to 2005.This mix is a nice mellow melodic journey without any of the usual crazies. It was interesting because there really weren't many big anthems, monsters or beasts. Just lots of beautiful tunes.Maybe with it being the end of the northern hemisphere summer all the producers have already released their big tunes for Ibiza and other party hotspots. Who knows, but this was a very different experience to the first three monthlys.Tracklisting:1: Kerri Chandler - All I Have Is This Feeling2: Francois K - Awakening (Needs Remix)3: Sole Kitchen - From Your Soul4: Roberta Rodriguez - I Keep Thinking Of You5: HNNY - Trummor6: Omar - Lay It Down (Andre Lodemann Remix)7: Francis Inferno Orchestra - G.A.B.O.S.8: Dawn Williams, Josh Milan - I'm Your Gypsy (Honeycomb Vocal)9: John Davies & The Monster Orchestra - Boogie Boogie (Dance Ritual Dub)10: Chuggin Edits - I'm Scared11: Henry Wu, Earl…
Episode 301: c2eMusic at The Zone - Extended Mix
ListenedThis doesn't happen very often, in fact this is a first. For this weeks radio show I played the set from the Sydney House Dance Battle. However that's only 90 minutes long and the show is two hours, so this mix has 30 minutes of extra music.I'll be honest every time I heard the original mix I was left wanting more when it ended with Jesus Creates A Sound. Well I've answered my own wish!!The songs in the last 30 minutes are heavyweights in their respective sub genres. Like Mike Tyson heavyweights.I'm not sure anyone will listen to the original mix now as it's almost identical but shorter. There are some subtle differences in the transitions though. Most notably Heaven and Jesus Creates A Sound. I'll be honest the original mix has much more intensity in that transition. Horses for courses I guess. Both are free and available here so go nuts.Tracklisting:1: Donnie, Kai Alce - Olmec Save Us (Yoruba Soul Mix)2: Radic The Myth -El Roto3: Perempay, Davinche, MrV - This Is Not A Game4: Badbox - Zurna5: Nyurauch,…
Episode 300: c2eMusic on VBR - Augusts - 2025
ListenedThis is my 300th Podcast release!!!!!It's been coming for what feels like years now, but we made. I can't I've released this many mixes over the last 20 years. If you were to play them all b2b without stopping it would take you over 21 days!!! I owe so much to you guys for your ongoing support. Twenty years is a long time, and that's only the length of my digital story. There is another 14 years prior to that when I lived on Technics 1210s.I hope many more people are able to discover the podcast and go on journey of exploration back in time, one month or week at a time.Back with the best of month series and it Augusts turn. It's a strong month as it historically has been when I buy the best tracks from Suncebeat when I get home. You'll recognise a fair few of them in the second half of the mix.The first half goes back ten to twenty years and we've got some whoppers. When you look at the artists on this mix you see the quality stand out. Masters At Work, Quentin Harris, Karizma, Mr V, Terry Hunter, Sir Piers,…
Episode 299: c2eMusic ft Tony Garcia - August 2025
ListenedI've been trying to get Tony Garcia on my radio show for the whole of 2025 and after eight months we got there. DJ/Producer and all round nice guy Tony has a number of residencies around the city, many of them playing vinyl. Founder of Rotary Disco and Klubhouse two great events on Sydney scene over the past decade. This mix gives a hint of what we might sound like together. It's the first of three confirmed b2b sessions over the coming weeks.#ChileBadosTracklisting to follow:
Episode 298: c2eMusic August 2025
ListenedOriginally recorded at the end of July but missed the release window. This mix has a nice healthy dose of garage in the centre, but the last third is just straight up fire. The Riva Starr mix of Dennis Ferrer's Hey Hey from 2020 is the highlight for me. Everytime I hear it it gets me going. Genius.Other standout tracks this month, "The Situation", "Better Days" and Dennis Quins quality garage take on Lood's classic Shout-N-Out. So many great mixes of that track to chose from but I love the vibe on the garage version.I put on my very first event last Friday night. A classics night focussing on 1990-93 house. The music was on point and the crowd created such a great vibe. Despite the weather turning nasty just before doors opened everyone that came had a great night. I'm proud of myself for getting out there and trying something new that comes with a fair amount of risk. Already planning the next event later in the year.Plenty of gigs coming up too which is awesome. If you are in Sydney check out my socials to…
Episode 297: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - All The Julys 2025
ListenedSo last month I started the annual classics series with the 2005 mix. This week I flipped it round and did a mix based on the month I bought the music. Since it's July that's the month I went with. I have done this a couple of times on Pressure Radio with a Junes and Decembers mix. It's fun and helps you reconnect with older music you may not have heard for years. When I started the mix and looked in my music folders I realised that July isn't a common month for me. Up to 2017 I have most years covered all the way back to 2005. In fact July 2005 is my oldest digital track. However in recent years I have been overseas in July , usually at Suncebeat and therefore don't buy music until I get back in August. As a result a lot of this mix is from pre 2015/6. Not that you can tell of course, unless you know when certain tracks were released.I tried to keep a pretty chill vibe for the majority of the mix. Not something I'm used to doing, but for the most part I think I did a pretty good job!It was never going to last…
Episode 296: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - ft Emma - July 2025
ListenedWhere do we start with this one. Started off as a regular guest mix show with Emma (aka em_laa) who previously appeared on the show back at the start of the year. However we were having so much fun that when we cut the feed for the radio we carried on for another 2hrs. Yes that's right this is an almost four hour mix.And I can tell you it's chock full of sexy smooth deep house and soulful house goodness. It's hard to tell who is playing at any given time, unless you know our sound and music collections really well.Unfortunately this mix is so long there is very little chance of me being able to do a tracklist!! I apologise.I'm sure shazam will guess a decent number of them, but if you want to know just ask in the comments.Enjoy and share with all your friends (well the ones with great music taste like you)Enjoy!
Episode 295: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - Back To 05
ListenedThis mix marks the start of a new series - Back To - in which I dedicate a whole show to a specific year. It's not the first time I've done it. There are three or four such mixes from the old Pressure Radio days. The different this time is consistency. You see I didn't have any theme for the one of my weekly slots. We already have a new mix, crate digging, a guest DJ and now going forward we'll have a Back To. I can go all the way back to 1990 which gives us 37 months before we repeat a year!!We kick the series off with 2005 which was chosen by Dave Miller Lawson (DML) and what a great choice it was.You see 2005 is a pretty significant year. It's the year most DJs made the switch from vinyl to digital, me included. The first six months of 2005 was all vinyl for me. Then around the time I got married in June I treated myself to a pair of Denon DNS-3000s. And with that also came my introduction to the mighty Traxsource, or Cracksource as many of us know it as.I remember reading Brian Tappert's press releases…
Episode 294: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - June 2025
ListenedReleased just in the nick of time. This is another mix that's been on repeat in my car, on my headphones for a couple of weeks now.I love the flow between the first two tracks, you realise it's a different song it just sounds like the first song moves into a new section. We have a big helping of Mr V in this mix. All tracks you've heard in my mixes before but with a twist. Each is a remix from the likes of Louie Vega, Reelsoul & Dennis Quin and sound very different to the originals as they should.Craziest track goes to KW Griff & Porkchop who get the Mike Dunn & Spen treatment on Bring In The Katz. Whenever I hear I always play a little game of what comes next - Yes or OOH. You'll see what I mean. The beast of the mix is undoubtedly Mattei & Omich's Morgana's Daughter. No idea the significance of the title but the track is superb. So deep, so dirty, perfecto! The remainder of the mix is made up of tracks I haven't played before in 2025, offcut's if you like, but don't let that deceive into thinking these are…
Episode 293: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - May 2025
ListenedApologies for the late arrival of the May mix. Ironically it was recorded on April 30th's radio show, but as per you the perfectionist in me wasn't 100% happy with the flow and had intentions of re-doing later in the month which of cause didn't happen. However the more I listened to the mix the more I fell in love with it. Now I don't hear any issues or flaws in it!The tunes in the mix really are top shelf. I feel I got lucky when I went shopping on TraxClart because it's rare these days to land a large number of really good tracks.I must give a nod my friend Emma who played on the show earlier in the year. I got the first track on the mix listening to her playing a chill disco set at a swanky bar in Sydney. I'm increasingly finding great tunes when I'm out hearing other DJs sets and Emma's tastes are right up my street so she often has me Shazamming or loitering around the decks when she's spinning. Some of you may also spot that I included Radic The Myth's "Roses" too which featured on Emma's debut show…
Episode 292: c2eMusic Copyright vs Liquid People
ListenedThis is a fun mix from May this year. Just before the start of the show I thought of playing only Copyright and Liquid People music since they were both big UK producing duos of the 00's and I had a decent amount of both of their catalogue.Very much unplanned so no idea how it would turn out. Would there be enough variation in energy to allow the mix to flow?Luckily there was bucket loads. I wasn't initially going to release the mix as I wanted to have a go at programming a tighter set - the perfect mix. However I haven't got round to it and this version has grown on me so I'm gonna share it with you all.For those that don't know Copyright consists of Londoner Gavin Mills (aka DJ Face) a big cheese in both the house and garage scenes in the 90's, a former hairdresser, big Japanese toy collector and now photographer. The other half is Sam Holt who is a huge trainer nut with a BIG collection, former MD at Team Saatchi and hails from my part of the world growing up just down the M55 in Preston. The two were…
Episode 291: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - June Jams 2025
ListenedThis weeks show was a crate digging session. A digital crate dig, not sure what the word for that is.Music ranges between 1995 and 2012 with the majority of tunes coming from the 00'sThe whole mix manages to stay on a Soulful house vibe, very unual I know. Not sure what happened I must have been in a chilled mood. There is a little Subliminal section from the early days in there for the die hards.Still looking to get the May mix out. I did it on two different shows and now I can't decide which one to release. For anyone in Sydney this weekend you can find me on the Glass Island boat playing from 6:15-7:15. It's the last cruise of the season so it's gonna be special. It will also be my 50th birthday celebration, so even more reason to get your ticket sooner than later. I turned 50 last week. I had a radio show on my birthday, but I was also entertaining. So I played an old unreleased mix from 2016. It was a Copyright vs Rhemi mix. I'm not sure why I didn't release first time. I think I had lofty aspirations to…
Episode 290: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - ft Dante Rivera - May 2025
ListenedAnother special guest show and this month I'm proud to present good friend and Sydney legend DJ Dante Rivera, founder of Klubhouse and countless other Sydney events over the years. Dante was partly responsible for my exposure to Sydney clubbers. He was the first person to reach out post Covid to ask if I would play for Klubhouse. That set has resulted in me playing for multiple promoters around the city.Anyone that knows Dante knows to expect ass shaking Latin House vibes all the way and he didn't dissapoint. The first hour is all Dante so expect to find yourself tapping out percussion on the steering wheel or shuffling across the kitchen to get something out of the fridge. We go b2b for the second hour, which I will admit was a stretch for me. My Latin House is mainly European from the 00's - you can really hear the difference to Dante's authentic sounds, but that's all I have! Hopefully it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of the back nine.Anyone in the city this weekend, you can catch me a Tatler on Friday for a…
Episode 289: c2eMusic at Night Safari - Carousel - March 2025
ListenedThis mix is a recording from the set I played for Night Safari on March 22nd at Carousel in Sydney.Carousel is a relatively new club that recently got voted one of the top clubs in the world!! It's somewhere I go regularly, the sound system alone cost $600k AUD! Funktion one throughout, even in the bathroom they have a small Funktion One!It's been a dream of mine to play there ever since it opened. The DJ Booth is so cool, elevated above the dancefloor, but surrounded by VIP. The decks sit on a suspended table to reduce noise to the turntables.I was on warm up duty and so kicked things off to an empty club.I will come clean, some of the transitions in this mix make me wince. I was aware of a couple I had to wrestle on the night, but the recording highlights a few more. It's a shame because the tunes are superb. But hey, shows that this cat does NOT use the Sync button. I don't get to play this kind of music in Sydney very often unfortunately. As always these days I took the liberty of dropping my last two…
Episode 288: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - DJ Sol Michael - 15 April 2025
ListenedWe had another special guest DJ on the show this week, DJ So Michael from Sydney. Tried to get him on before Xmas, but you know Xmas. So glad we didn't let it slip and so here we are.Sol is a very rare talent having started DJing at the very tender age of eight! By 14 he was playing in Sydney's clubs warming up for the likes of Dave Lee (back when he had his cool name) no less. His Mum was a raver waaaay back in the day which exposed Sol to Acid House, Hip House and everything else going on over 35 years ago. You will hear this influence loud and clear throughout the mix.Now age 21 Sol has a fortnightly residency at the Erko as well as playing alongside myself for Larry's Herd. One of the highlights of his career was a recent week long residency at a Bali beach club! I gotta me some of that action too, it looked awesome. We had a lot of fun doing the show, Sol played for the first hour followed by a little chat to get to know him a little better. We then went b2b for the rest of the show, playing one tune…
Episode 287: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - Naughty 00s Feb 2025
ListenedFull write up over the weekend. For now, here is the recording from this week's show. Theme ended up being 00's which in turn ended up being a homage to Soulfuric with a couple of exceptions. This is a 90% vinyl mix on a radio show. There are a few dodgy transitions, I hope it doesn't spoil your enjoyment of the overall mix. I normally don't release mixes with ropey transitions, but the tunes are too good not to share.
Episode 286: Richie Haynes Live @ Soul Of Sydney - Frankie Knuckles Tribute 16-Feb-2025
ListenedFinally broke my Soul of Sydney duck. I went to their very first party at Sydney Park maybe 14 years ago with my then two little boys. The youngest who was only two took to it like a duck. He dragged me into the middle of the makeshift dancefloor and started dancing. He didn't want to leave.Fast forward to 2025 and I'm the one behind the decks spinning vinyl classics from 91-94. It was a beautiful sunny day and the vibe reflected it. Smiley happy house heads everywhere you looked.I wasn't sure what I was going to play, but as set time approached Terry playing before me was putting some thickness out of those speakers, so I started with something chunkier to match - Frankie Knuckles 2005 hit - Back In The Day.From there it was back to back classics, not the big obvious ones, you hear them all the time at classics events. No this was the cool stuff that we all loved but it stayed very much underground. The only exception is towards the end when I decided to drop my latest track - Beautiful Persons. It samples…
Episode 285: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - February 2025
ListenedHere we go with the start of a new month and with it a new mix of fresh new sounds.I actually ran out of new tunes, it was a well discussed topic in the chatroom as to whether I had enough. So I decided to end the mix with two of my own tracks, Can't Play which was my second track made and my latest one, Beautiful Persons.I was also so happy to be able to play a track I melted in 1998 in my attic room in Nottingham. I got excited when Defected bought Strictly Rhythm's back catalogue but The Believers, Heather Wildman - Gotta Keep Holding On wasn't released. Imagine my surprise when it suddenly shows up in Traxsource!Locking in the guest DJ for this month, Tony Garcia of Rotary Disco fame. He produced the excellent remake or Nights Over Egypt - Over Pyramids that appeared in last months mix. One of the nicest guys in the scene, I can't to have him on.For those of you in Sydney you can catch me next on Feb 16th playing for Soul Of Sydney who are doing a Frankie Knuckles tribute event. Looking forward to…
Episode 284: c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - Classic House & Garage
ListenedLast show of the month and we were lucky two get two guests on the show, em_laa and Jeremy Sylvester. The first show on VBR was a new mix of new(ish) tracks, so that leaves this week for crate digging and boy did we dig! At least three quarters of the mix is vinyl as I didn't switch to digital until 2005 and most of these tracks are much older than that.No preconceptions of what I was gonna play or even the style. We started super chill with Karizma's remix of John Legend's - Ordinary People. By track four we'd gone all the way back to the early 90's and that's where we spend a lot of the first half of the mix. The US garage sound of the early 90's reigns supreme with classic after classic raining down.We then transition across the pond to my homeland for the UK garage equivalent with mid 90's classics on the menu. We'll do it all again next month, but for now I'm gonna call the first month on VBR a roaring success. There's a great energy and real buzz on the station. The chatroom seems to always be busy and…
Episode 283: c2eMusic Radio Show - ft Jeremy Sylvester live in the mix - VBR - Jan 2025
ListenedNo you are not seeing things! If you had told me at any point in the last 30 years that I would get to play b2b with the person that made so much of the music that I played back in 97/98 I’d have maybe peeeeeeed laughing. With over 350 releases under his belt and over 950 DJ gigs around the world there is no doubt Jeremy Sylvester is one of the godfathers of UK garage.Jeremy is a DJ who is capable of covering a vast repertoire of styles, blending them into one sound that has become synonymous and identifiable to him as a DJ. Combining a mix of deep house/garage, classic 90’s style house, deep tech and jacking with a bit of old skool 4×4 garage thrown in for good measure, Jeremy’s diversity and sheer panache is second to none. His cool DJ sets are known for twisting the dance floor into a sexy melange of movement before letting loose into a filthy beat, Jeremy knows what the crowd want, and he knows how to give it to them. What is crazy is that Jeremy's USB's wouldn't load, so he had to use my music!! Any DJs…
Episode 282: c2eMusic Radio Show - DJ em_laa - 14 Jan 2025
ListenedWeek two on VBR and it's guest mix time!Joining me on the show this week was DJ em_laa (Emma McGuigan). As the name suggests she is in fact Irish. Em spent her Uni years in the heart of clubland, Liverpool and Manchester through the 90's and 00's. Now calling Sydney home for the last 2 years it's time to test the local scene and showcase her skills.Em played alone for the first hour to maximise your exposure to her sound. Then in the second hour we went b2b.I was blown away by her solo set at the top of the show. Some awesome tunes and flow built up nicely.Looking forward to playing b2b with her this Saturday at Tatlers from 12am-close.Tracklisting (First Hour)1. Cole Medina - We Call It Good 2 Me 2. Intr0beatz - Don't You Ever3. Back 2 Earth - Warp One4. Radic The Myth - Roses5. Soundstream - Deeper Love6. Danny J Lewis - Journey (Extended Version)7. Peven Everett - Stuck (Phil Asher's Soul Heaven Version)8. Addison Groove - Changa9. Lego - El Ritmo De Verdad 10. One & Done - Chum11. Cezar Touch - Slappin &…
Episode 281: c2eMusic January 2025 - First Radio Show on Vocal Booth Radio.
ListenedLast month we said goodbye to Pressure Radio after almost 13 years (Feb). This month we make our debut on Vocal Booth Radio, a new radio station set up and run by Andy Ward. We've moved from Thursdays fortnightly to Tuesdays weekly. The time remains the same. You'll be wanting the new URL....... www.vocalboothradio.comThe chatroom is similar but with new updated emojis which kicked off a few Emoji wars in the chatroom. I didn't know what to expect for my first show, would anyone be there!I needn't have worried as there were great numbers inside the chatroom and on the outside. We also had amazing support from Sydney. For large parts of the show we had more people from Sydney than not from Sydney! I even got to know new people in Sydney, not something you expect on a Spanish radio station!Huge thank you to everyone that tuned in especially those in the chat. There was such great energy during the show in the chatroom. I'm looking forward to holding court in the chatroom every Tuesday.Tracklisting:1: Ananda…
Episode 280: c2eMusic Last Pressure Radio Show December 2024
ListenedThis is my last ever radio show on Pressure Radio after almost 13 years! It all began with me wanting to be challenged to mix live, no pre-programming which is what I had been doing with my podcast series. The radio is challenging because there is so much more to stay on top of. You have to maintain a presence in the chatroom, but be careful not to get sucked into conversations or the music suddenly stops!!I reckon there are about 175+ mixes from the show so it has definitely left it's mark.As this door closes so the next one opens and I have to give a massive props to Andy Ward for stepping up to start a new radio station which will provide shelter for all the newly homeless Pressure DJs.I will be making a few changes for the new show. Firstly it's moving to Tuesday at the same time (9-11pm Sydney). Secondly it's going back to weekly just as it was for the first seven years of Pressure. It makes it easier to remember when I'm playing compared to the old fortnightly show.My first show will be on Jan 7th.Huge…
Episode 279: iLLya & Richie Haynes @ Mark Farina Close Up 07/12/24
ListenedThis mix is a recording from a recent event at the Civic Underground club in Sydney. It was the gloves off set for Mark Farina who had just done a four hour harbour boat party for Mushroom Jazz earlier that evening.I was asked if I wanted to do the closing set, and who would I wanted to go b2b with. Two names immediately came to mind, Ritmiq, a deep and minimal house DJ who I rate highly and iLLya Cooper a well known Sydney legend. In the end I went with iLLya, because of his long standing friendship with Mark, having played alongside him on many previous tours.A lot of people thought I was brave and a little crazy trying to play b2b with such a skilled DJ, but I wanted to be challenged.I had iLLya come onto my radio show a couple of days before the event to see how we could sound together. You can check out the show here. The atmosphere in the club was pretty special, the crowd was very knowledgable and a real mix of ages. Mark got them fired up good and proper and before we knew it, we were up.iLLya started…
Episode 278: c2eMusic ft Illya Cooper (LEGEND) December 2024
ListenedThis show was so much fun.Carrying on the guest mix series, we welcome local Sydney DJ legend Illya Cooper.Illya has been part of Sydney's house music fabric for over 25 years. Known or his jacking, jazzy rhythms but more so his insane technical ability. He's played with the biggest names out there including Basement Jaxx NYE on Bondi Beach to 20,000, Derek Carter and Mark Farina NYE and most recently closing for both Mousse T and Danny Rampling on consecutive weekends for Ministry of Sound. And now he can add the c2eMusic Radio Show to that illustrious list! There were a couple of technical issues that led to no music for a few minutes but that's all been cut from the recording. I also need to apologise for the volume levels with the mic, I need to buy a second mic for interviews. The good news is that we were having so much fun that we played for an extra hour b2b!We then went on to play b2b closing for Mark Farina a couple of nights later. Illya opened and played the first few tracks before I took over.…
Episode 277: c2eMusic Mikekon October 2024
ListenedThis mix is the first in a new series of guest mixes on the show.Once a month I will showcase a local Sydney DJ on the show.Joining me on the show this time, ahead of his debut for Larry’s Herd is WIP Music’s @mikekonOne of the ambassador’s of Sydney soulful Deep underground scene, Mike has been busy building an amazing following that guarantees a WIP party is not to be missed.Mike will be warming up for none other than Louie Vega next week @ Carousel. He is also playing with Osunlade on NYE.Mike played for the first hour before we went b2b for the second hour.A technical issue three quarters of the way through the show resulted in me having to stop the mix early.
Episode 276: c2eMusic September 2024
ListenedThis mix is from the last show in August, but since we already have an August release out there it's more of a peak into the upcoming September mix.The beginning of the mix is like the start of the night. A nod to those minimal deep rolling, chugging sounds you hear when you first get to the club.We then have a flurry of vocal tunes thanks to Martin Evans (Brum's finest) who was in the chat room asking for female vocals again (he asks every time, sometimes I listen :))We then get a little chunky with some solid floor stompers. The mix ends with a couple of older tunes. The first is from the 90's an excellent Curtis & Moore remix of Sandy B's "Make The World Go Round". The second is from 2001 courtesy of Bob Sinclar. I first heard this track on the excellent Ministry Sessions 12 (The Magic Sessions) - Louie Vega's mix. Not sure why I've never played it in a mix before.AND in doing the tracklisting for this release I just realised that I played a song twice in the mix!! See if you can spot it.Upcoming gigs for…
Episode 275: c2eMusic August 2024
ListenedThis months mix comes in nice and early. It's made up of mix of new tracks and ones I've Shazammed when out over the last few weeks. The result is a really nice blend of the old and new.Highlights for me include DJ Rolando's "Jaguar", Cinthie's "Mellifluous", DJ Chus's "The Feeling" and Spiritual South's "Green Gold".I've had this mix on repeat for the last four days which is usually a good sign!Tracklisting:1. Kerri Chandler - What is Digital Soul 2. Patrick Khuzwayo, Bhunu Brill, Darian Crouse, Chez Damier - Music-s My Only Drug (Chez Damier Sankeys Edit) 3. Conga Radio, Jex Opolis, Roberto (CA) - Right Beside You 4. Red Hook Dreams, Kenny Dope - Your Love (Kenny Dope-s Dub) 5. Cinthie - Mellifluous (Original Mix) 6. Episode 274: c2eMusic 4 SoulfulHouseDJs July 2024
ListenedThis is a recording from a show I did recently for SoulfulHouseDJs in the UK.My friend Will Nice has a slot on Sundays and asked me to cover for a couple of weeks. Two became three and this mix is from the third show. The show was at 9pm Sunday night in Sydney where I am, but only 12pm Sunday lunchtime in the UK. As a result the mix stays very much on the soulful, vocal vibe out of respect. There were one or two technical issues during the show as it was a live stream on Mixcloud. I was scrambling about checking things and moving cameras in between mixes. Luckily you can't tell when listening to the mix, although there are more naked beats than I would have liked.Big thank you to everyone that came down to Larry's Herd at the Lord Roberts on Sunday. It was such a great vibe and I really enjoyed spinning vinyl for everyone. Next event is mid August, check out the Larry's Herd FB page for more details.Tracklisting:1: Jazzy Point - Give A Little Love (Extended Mix)2: Delano Smith ft Diamondancer - A Message For…
Episode 273: c2eMusic June 2024
ListenedBack after six weeks off the airwaves. Internet problems, still ongoing but workable this week. It's actually a pretty chilled mix this month. The mix opens with lush deep vibes courtesy of Jimpster. We build gently with jazzy vibes along the way, the odd sing along here and there. The main part of the mix again has a UK feel, with those bumpy skippy warm beats.I really thought I was going to run out of new music and have to blend towards the end, but it worked out almost perfectly.Happy to report that I am involved in a few nights here in Sydney. Open House is shaping up to be a monthly event at The Barrie, featuring South African sounds, phunky house, latin vibes and UK beats. Larry's Herd is another new night with a focus on 90's deep house and disco sounds. Finally there is Boogie which ended its tenure at the picturesque Ivy Pool Club. I'm looking forward to seeing where they call home next summer. If you're in the Sydney please come and support so that we can have cool music and nice things in our…
Episode 272: c2eMusic May 2024
ListenedThis months show is a mix of new and nearly new.It was recorded during last weeks show on Pressure Radio and was not a new release destined for a podcast rollout. However I tried to play all of the tracks from the last couple of months that I bought but have yet to play. The result is a decent mix different enough to stand on it's own.The mix opens with three tracks from the same Italian artist - Key Tronics Ensemble from 89-92.Very different tracks that sounded great played together. We continue with a mix of new tracks and ones from the last couple of mixes, finishing off with MAW latest. The mix is shorter than usual due to a couple of technical difficulties at the start that prevented me from starting for half an hour.I will try to get another show out in May with new tracks. Wish me luck! For anyone in Sydney, you can catch me at Ivy Pool Club on June 1st alongside Nukewood, Cally & JerkBoy. You can get tickets here: https://bit.ly/boogiejun1Tracklisting:1 Key Tronics Ensemble - Anamaria 2 Key Tronics…
Episode 271: c2eMusic April 2024
ListenedThis mix should have really been March 24 as it was recorded during the last show of the month. However I didn't get round to mastering it until April and it makes no sense to release a mix in April and call it March.I found it difficult to connect with Soulful House and House releases last month. As a result this mix is mainly deep mixed with UKG. There are a couple of classics towards the end, one an original, the other another remake, but a very good one.Big shout to Danny J Lewis, hugely underrated in my opinion. We have three of his tracks in this mix which is a difficult thing to achieve.I have finally started making moves towards production. It's crazily overdue but I've bitten the bullet so I'm gonna have a crack. I'll keep you updated on my progress.I'm lucky enough to be closing after the legend that is Victor Simonelli this Saturday @ Boogie here in Sydney. I grew up listening to his classics in the early-mid nineties so it's a huge honour to be taking over the decks from him. As you can imagine…
Episode 270: c2eMusic February 2024
ListenedHere we go with the first mix of 2024. Half of the tunes have been sitting in my Traxsource basket since January, some since December! I'll be honest I wasn't feeling the urge to put a new mix out. The music wasn't inspiring enough. The radio shows were more nostalgic and I got back into rediscovering my older music and mixes. I did actually do this mix two weeks earlier on the previous show but my mixer was playing up and causing the tracks to skip which made mixing almost impossible. The flow wasn't quite right though, a couple of big juicy tracks made an appearance waaay too early. That was the only change made for this mix.We start off with a tribal feel for the first three tracks before hitting the soulful stuff. The main body of the mix has that tried and tested rolling, bumpy warm feel that has you involuntarily tapping those toes and nodding your noggin. There are three great remakes of old classics that I'm sure everyone knows. I don't normally go in for remakes as they often fall short of the…
