Metro FM live
Metro FM is a South African radio station based in Johannesburg. It broadcasts urban contemporary music throughout the country 24/7 on FM Stereo. It is also possible to listen live to the station's broadcast on DStv (channel 801) and via online live stream.
It was launched in 1986 by SABC to compete with the currently non-existing Radio Bop. Its goal is to represent black leadership and success. Also to infuse listeners with a sense of accomplishment, style, and confidence.
It sets itself apart with a team of presenters and DJs full of attitude, progressive and fun. It offers a musical line-up focused only on the best of genres such as Hip Hop, R&B, Kwaito, Contemporary Jazz, House, and Gospel. It also broadcasts the latest news as well as sports, financial, weather, and traffic reports.
Metro FM also engages with the public through competitions and events. The most popular of which, HeatWave, brings several A-List artists and top DJs to several South African regions during summer.
The podcasts of its most popular shows and programmes such as Ask A Man and Metro FM Top 40 rank are also available online.
